8 New Tandems We’re Excited To See In One Chicago’s New Crossover

It has been more than five years since the last One Chicago crossover event, meaning that the shows' casts have drastically changed and the 2025 crossover has the opportunity to bring numerous new duos together. The NBC franchise consists of three series — Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, and Chicago Med. Each procedural drama has released 10 or more seasons, and they have produced almost 700 episodes as a collective. So, it's safe to say that the One Chicago universe has been a massive success for the network. Part of why it's so popular is its ability to have crossovers.

Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, and Chicago Med have joined forces on various occasions, whether for a big three-part event or a quick cameo. The shows have undoubtedly benefited from these crossovers over the years as they introduce fans of one series to another and continue to establish the fictional universe. However, the last One Chicago franchise crossover was five years ago ("Infection" in 2019). The lack of these events is mostly due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which resulted in productions enacting strict protocols. The good news is that the frustrating streak will end with the One Chicago three-way crossover in 2025.

8 Voight & Pascal

Chicago PD & Chicago Fire

Jason Beghe as Hank Voight looking upset in Chicago PD

One of the most obvious pairings we're dying to see is Chief Dom Pascal from Chicago Fire and Sergeant Hank Voight from Chicago PD. Pascal and Voight have similar personalities (gruff, no-nonsense, willing to get their hands dirty, etc.) and will either get along very well or be mortal enemies. Each option would be welcome as both would result in an intriguing dynamic for the crossover.

Pascal and Voight might be too alike for them to be friends, which is ironic but also a very real possibility. It's always interesting (and sometimes frustrating) to see the bosses of different One Chicago TV shows clash, and that may be the case for the 2025 crossover event. Pascal is the new guy, after all, and Voight might not take kindly to Dermot Mulroney's character taking charge during whatever crisis the firefighters, police officers, and doctors face.

7 Kylie & Kiana

Chicago Fire & Chicago PD

Katelynn Shennett as Kylie Estevez in Chicago Fire season 13

Toya Turner as Kiana Cook in Chicago PD season 12 (1)

Katelynn Shennett as Kylie Estevez in Chicago Fire season 13 (1)

Seeing two of the One Chicago leaders interact would undoubtedly be exciting, but so would watching two of the newest franchise characters become a duo. Katelynn Shennett joined the Chicago Fire cast in season 8, while Toya Turner became a Chicago PD series regular in season 12. Shennett's character, Kylie Estevez, has been a recurring player ever since, but she officially joined Firehouse 51 after Chief Pascal fired Jack Damon in Chicago Fire season 13. Turner's Kiana Cook is a police officer who became Hailey Upton's replacement in Chicago PD season 12.

Since they are technically newbies in their respective fields, Kylie and Kiana could bond over their similar freshman status. Both are young, determined, and forces to be reckoned with. Who wouldn't want to see Kylie and Kiana interact during the 2025 One Chicago three-way crossover? The upcoming event's story reportedly (per TVLine) revolves around an office building explosion, which easily opens the door for many new duos, including Kylie and Kiana.

6 Novak & Frost

Chicago Fire & Chicago Med

Darren Barnet as John Frost in Chicago Med

Novak helping a patient in Chicago Fire

Following Jack Damon's exit from Firehouse 51 in Chicago Fire season 13, Lyla Novak has been without a love interest. Kelly Severide's half-brother was never more than someone Novak flirted with, and she deserves some love in her life (especially after the traumatizing fall finale). Hopefully, Chicago Fire season 13 isn't setting up a romance between Novak and Chief Pascal, and the paramedic can meet someone her own age who isn't married or her superior. The good news is that Chicago Med has just the person for Novak — Dr. John Frost.

The next One Chicago three-part event presents the perfect opportunity to establish another cross-show romance. Many couples have consisted of characters from other shows (like Chicago Fire's Mouch and Chicago PD's Trudy Platt), and it's time for a new one. Darren Barnet has chemistry with every actor he works with. So, there's no doubt that his character and Novak can stir up some chemistry between them. Only time will tell if Frost and Novak even cross paths during the crossover, but their jobs make an introduction easy.

5 Torres & Ripley

A Dante Torres and Dr. Mitch Ripley duo might be unlikely, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't make sense. Both characters have troubling pasts they could bond over and are relatively new to their respective jobs. Although it may be unexpected, Chicago PD's Torres and Chicago Med's Ripley could make for a fascinating dynamic. Some of TV's most iconic friendships were developed between the most unexpected pairs, after all.

The 2025 One Chicago crossover event allows the writers and producers to form any tandem they want. So, this might be the only time for them to establish a friendship between Torres and Ripley. Following the fall finales of Chicago PD and Chicago Med, that kind of relationship might just be what both characters need.

4 Carver & Ruzek

Sam Carver has been going through a lot in Chicago Fire season 13, and he could use some advice from someone who has been in his spot. Chicago PD's Adam Ruzek knows what it's like to fall in love with a coworker. He also understands how that relationship can fizzle out fast. So, perhaps Carver can learn a thing or two from Ruzek during the upcoming Once Chicago three-part crossover.

Sure, Ruzek and Burgess are stronger than ever in Chicago PD season 12, but it took them a lot of time to get there. Hopefully, Carver won't have the same experience with Violet Mikami with some guidance from Ruzek. The police officer can set Carver straight and put him on the right path concerning his slow-burn romance with Violet. Carver can learn from Ruzek's mistakes, and fans won't have to wait as long for Carver and Violet to become endgame as it did with Ruzek and Burgess in Chicago PD.

3 Violet & Lenox

Chicago Fire & Chicago Med

Sarah Ramos as Caitlin Lenox looking over her shoulder in Chicago Med

Hanako Greensmith as Violet Mikami in Chicago Fire (2)

Chicago Med Goodwin holds up her hand while talking to Lenox

Hanako Greensmith as Violet Mikami in Chicago Fire

Speaking of Violet, a meet-up between the Chicago Fire season 13 character and one of Chicago Med's newest doctors could be quite entertaining. Unlike most of the other hopeful One Chicago duos, Violet and Dr. Caitlin Lenox probably wouldn't get along. Their tandem might be more similar to a rivalry than a friendship.

Both One Chicago characters are headstrong, passionate, and experts in their respective fields. However, Violet undoubtedly gets in touch with her emotions more frequently than Lenox ever does. For that reason alone, watching Violet and Lenox on the screen together would be rather interesting. It would also just make sense for them to cross paths as Lenox is the (now sole) head of the ED at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center, and Violet is a paramedic who often ends up in that very same ED.

2 Asher & Burgess

Chicago Med & Chicago PD

Hannah Asher and Sean Archer sit at a table in the hospital in Chicago Med season 8, episode 20.

Burgress draws her gun on someone off-screen in Chicago PD

Jessy Schram as Hannah Asher in Chicago Med

Detective Kim Burgess in the 21st District in Chicago PD's 200th Episode

Luke Mitchell as Dr. Mitchell Ripley and Jessy Schram as Dr. Hannah Asher talking in Chicago Med Season 9.

Whereas it's easy for Chicago Fire characters (especially the paramedics) to interact with those on Chicago Med, it's a bit harder for Chicago PD characters to form strong bonds with the doctors and nurses at Gaffney (unless they're brothers). But a three-part crossover event certainly helps. Perhaps it will allow for Dr. Hannah Asher and Detective Kim Burgess to cross paths in the One Chicago universe.

Although it feels like Asher has been working at Gaffney for a long time, Jessy Schram first appeared in a Chicago Med season 5 episode in 2020, before the last One Chicago crossover. So, Asher hasn't been a part of one before, and it will be intriguing to see her link up with characters from other shows, like Burgess. It's easy to imagine Asher and Burgess becoming friends and meeting up for the occasional beer at Molly's after saving the city in the 2025 crossover.

1 Pascal & Goodwin

Chicago Fire & Chicago Med

Sharon Goodwin Chicago Med

Dermot Mulroney as Dom Pascal in Chicago Fire season 13 episode 5

Chicago Med's Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) looking shocked by news received on the phone in season 9

Similar to the possible pairing of Chief Pascal and Voight, a tandem including Chief Pascal and Sharon Goodwin in the One Chicago crossover would also be exciting. Of course, Goodwin will have to survive her deadly stalker in Chicago Med season 10 first. But there's no doubt that she will make it out alive (despite the fall finale's heart-racing cliffhanger).

Chief Pascal and Goodwin could easily butt heads in the upcoming One Chicago three-part event. They might not have much in common as opposed to Chief Pascal and Voight, making it easier for them to disagree. Perhaps Chief Pascal, Goodwin, and Voight will share a scene or two during the 2025 One Chicago crossover, which would be the best-case scenario for all involved.
