I’m Starting To Believe That Knight Will Really Be Gone In NCIS Season 22 Because Of Katrina Law’s Latest Update

I'm starting to believe NCIS season 22 may bid Jessica Knight farewell, especially in light of an update from actor Katrina Law. The cast member created quite a stir following the NCIS season 21 finale when Jessica Knight accepted a promotion to Chief REACT Training Officer. The job would take her across the country to California's Camp Pendleton. I began to wonder if the departure was for real or if it was one of the series' famous cliffhangers. For instance, at the beginning of NCIS season 4, it looked like Mark Harmon would retire the Leroy Jethro Gibbs character.

There have been clues about the actor's future in the past few months. Katrina Law has been posting about NCIS, which could be part of her contract that carries over to NCIS season 22 when she departs. I know many people want to believe that she will stay, but I haven't been able to ignore the signs that she will go, and Law's latest update reveals another big one. One of the most convincing elements of Jessica Knight committing to her departure is how beautifully NCIS told her story, setting her up for a proper sendoff in season 22.

The Jessica Knight Actor Rocked Golden Locks In An Instagram Post

Rocky Carroll, Diona Reasonover, Sean Murray, Katrina Law, Brian Dietzan and Gary Cole from ‘NCIS’ attend the CBS New Fall Schedule Celebration event to announce CBS' 2024-2025 primetime lineup at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles on May 2, 2024

I couldn't help but notice that in Katrina Law's August 2024 Instagram

post, the actor is still rocking her lighter locks despite production for NCIS season 22 already in full swing. The update suggests the actor could be moving on from the character, as Jessica Knight wore some variant of her dark brown hair in all four seasons of NCIS. While it's a small detail, I believe it could be a significant insight into Law's role in NCIS season 22. The out-of-character hairstyle and the relaxed Monday vibes suggest the actor may not be on set.

There's one question on my mind as NCIS season 22 approaches: will they write Jessica Knight out? In some ways, I believe they already have. I would argue that sending off the character is the only way to handle Jessica Knight's NCIS departure. With a shortened 10-episode set due to the writer's strike, dedicating an entire episode to a sub-plot about Jessica Knight's potential evolution was a massive use of airtime, and I believe showrunners dedicated the time to the character's farewell because it will play out in NCIS season 22. That said, I still have lingering questions.

While it would be sad to see the NCIS actor go, [Katrina Law] appeared to be in a tranquil state of mind.

Now that Jessica Knight's NCIS departure feels imminent, I'm wondering how it will happen. I also want to know what reason Katrina Law would have for leaving the show. Many actors in Katrina Law's role have had to step back from the part over the years, citing grueling working hours or just wanting to explore new projects. The actor has taken on her first film since her role as Jessica Knight, starring in Werewolves (2024), which releases in December. While it would be sad to see the NCIS actor go, she appeared to be in a tranquil state of mind.
