J-Law Shuts Down SoHo in Style
If there is one thing Jennifer Lawrence knows how to do, it is causing a frenzy while looking completely unbothered. The No Hard Feelings actress brought downtown Manhattan to a standstill earlier this month, turning heads at the grand opening of the Longines flagship store in SoHo. Crowds lined the streets just to get a glimpse of the Oscar winner, who has been keeping a relatively low profile while enjoying family life.
Lawrence, who has been the face of the Swiss watchmaker since 2021, didn't just show up to cut a ribbon. She gave insiders a masterclass in "quiet luxury," sporting the brand’s new PrimaLuna collection. But while the diamonds were sparkling, it was her unfiltered chat with Galerie magazine that gave fans a rare glimpse behind the curtain of her ultra-private domestic life.
She is the only celebrity who can make a watch ad feel like a hang out session with your best friend. The effortless queen strikes again.
The Relatable "Mommy" Struggle
Despite her A-list status and high-fashion campaigns, Lawrence proved she is just like every other exhausted parent trying to find five minutes of peace. The actress, who shares son Cy with husband Cooke Maroney, confessed that her definition of luxury has shifted significantly since becoming a mom. It is less about red carpets and more about hygiene without an audience.
When asked about a moment she wished she could freeze in time, Lawrence didn't pick an awards show or a movie set. She picked the shower. "In L.A., you can’t enjoy a long shower because of the drought," she explained. "So in New York, it is the only time where I don’t feel guilty and that I’m not hearing my kids calling out 'Mommy.'"
She joked that the shower is the only place she can justify her solitude. "I can tell myself, I deserve to be clean so I can do this! So, every time I get in the shower, I wish that I could freeze time."
Hearing J-Law talk about hiding in the shower from her kids is the validation I needed today. Stars, they are just like us—tired.
Rare Insight Into Her Marriage With Cooke Maroney
Lawrence is notoriously tight-lipped about her marriage to high-end art dealer Cooke Maroney, but the event brought out her sentimental side. The couple, who tied the knot in 2019, seemingly bond over their shared love of contemporary art—a passion that Maroney does professionally as a director at Gladstone Gallery.
Giving a rare peek into their shared home aesthetic, Lawrence gushed about the pieces "we" live with. "I think some of my favorite things that we live with are probably works by Matthew Barney and Wolfgang Tillmans," she revealed, emphasizing their partnership. She noted that they own an etching by Barney and a "black-and-white Rosemarie Trockel piece" that she insists she could "never part with."
It is a subtle but telling update: the couple that collects together, stays together. While they rarely walk red carpets as a duo, their shared taste in "one-of-a-kind" pieces proves they are perfectly in sync behind closed doors.
Her "No-Fuss" Fashion Rule
While she looked every bit the movie star at the event, which culminated in a private dinner at the home of chef Yann Nury, Lawrence insists her style philosophy is actually quite lazy. Her number one rule for accessories? If she has to change it, she isn't wearing it.
"I like how it is kind of soft," she said of her new PrimaLuna timepiece, noting that she needs items that transition from day to night because an outfit change is simply not on the agenda. "That is really the only thing I care about when I’m looking for a timepiece because I’m not going to change again today."
Lawrence also dropped a somewhat cryptic, classic J-Law definition of elegance. "I guess it is being able to sleep at night knowing that you haven’t done something barbaric or horrible," she quipped. "Was I generally nice? Did I tell the truth? Is my family safe? OK, great."
With a happy marriage, a growing art collection, and a solid plan for escaping her kids for ten minutes a day, it seems Lawrence is living her best life.
