An ongoing injury reportedly prevented Millie Bobby Brown from attending a Stranger Things series finale event. Many of the Stranger Things season 5 cast members were present at New York City's Paris Theater on Friday, December 26, where they had the opportunity to come together and watch the final episode of their hit Netflix series.
According to People, Brown is "still home" due to a dislocated shoulder, which kept her from attending the screening at the Paris Theater. This is the same injury that caused the 21-year-old star to pull out of Good Morning America on December 15, where she was set to appear alongside co-star Noah Schnapp, who plays Will Byers.
In her video message that appeared on the Good Morning America segment instead, Brown shared that she "took a fall" and noticeably had her arm in a back sling. She also missed a Stranger Things event at New York City's Paley Museum on December 18 because of a "recent injury."
Despite her absence from the Stranger Things series finale screening at the Paris Theater, she was still included remotely, as she "got a link to watch it at the same time" as her co-stars who were in attendance.
A dislocated shoulder forcing Brown to miss events like the finale screening is not the first challenge she has encountered during the season 5 press tour. In early November, rumors surfaced that she filed a complaint against co-star David Harbour for bullying and harassing her on set, with Brown later clarifying that these rumors were not true.
As for the show itself, critics' reviews for Stranger Things season 5 have generally been positive, with the last season holding an 84% Tomatometer score. After a divisive response to episodes 5-7 and the review bombing that followed, the audience's Popcornmeter score is now down to 56%, the lowest in the show's history.
Regardless, anticipation for the series finale is still incredibly high, as audiences wait to see how things end for Brown's character, Eleven, and the story that has been gradually unfolding since season 1 debuted in 2016. Along with coming to Netflix on New Year's Eve, the finale is also playing in select movie theaters on the evening of December 31 and on January 1.
Two days away, the Stranger Things finale ticket sales are already impressive, with co-creator Ross Duffer sharing 1.1 million seats have been reserved and 3,500 showings across more than 620 theaters are already full. Despite some of the setbacks during the press tour, the series is poised to end on a triumphant note for Brown and the rest of the cast and crew.
The Stranger Things series finale comes to Netflix on December 31 at 8 p.m. EST.
