S.W.A.T. is back with more incredible drama this Friday on CBS, and Collider is thrilled to bring our viewers an exclusive first look at the seventh episode of Season 8, entitled "Home." The current, and possibly last, season of S.W.A.T. follows Sergeant Daniel 'Hondo' Harrelson (Shemar Moore) and his team of skilled S.W.A.T. officers as they tackle the city's most dangerous and high-stakes challenges. When situations escalate beyond what the Los Angeles Police Department can manage, Hondo's unit steps in to handle the toughest missions. The pressure is always intense, but Hondo trusts his team to be there to support him no matter the dangers.
In our exclusive sneak peek, we see a victim who is rushed to hospital with gunshot wounds between her and her companion that have left them in critical condition with her life at stake. But just as she starts to feel like she might be out of the woods, the suspects behind the attack reappear. Luckily for her, though, a member of the Twenty Squad is ready to pursue them and bring them to justice. The official logline for the episode is as follows:
"When two students are brutally attacked, 20-Squad contends with a possible honor killing. Meanwhile, Hondo and Nichelle have their first parenting dispute while searching for a suitable daycare."
Will Season 8 of 'S.W.A.T. Be the Last?
It's looking likely, sadly. The show was initially cancelled last year before CBS reversed the decision and renewed it for a 13-episode run, but at the moment, the current season is expected to conclude the series, bringing the storylines to a definitive close. When he was asked if he'd be up for continuing in his role as Hondo in the future, Shemar Moore gave a fun answer that highlighted the difficulty of playing an action role indefinitely:
"Everybody at S.W.A.T. wants Season 13. And I'm like, You've got to talk to my knees, boy. It ain't no joke. Hey, I'm 54. It ain't like it was. It's harder and harder running around , jumping over cars and playing tough guy and trying to keep that six-pack together."
The next episode of Season 8, entitled "Home," will air Friday, December 6 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ The first seven seasons of S.W.A.T. are currently streaming on Netflix.
