With Avengers: Doomsday being one year away from releasing in theaters, the Marvel Cinematic Universe film has shockingly gotten a new title internationally. The Multiverse Saga is only two years out from being completed, as the next Avengers movies will play instrumental parts for the MCU going forward.
Following reports that Avengers: Doomsday has been retitled in different countries, ScreenRant's own Felipe Rangel in Brazil has confirmed that the Phase 6 film is being referred to as Vingadores: Dou tor Destino
In Japan, Avengers: Doomsday has allegedly been changed to Avengers: Judgement Day, but that has yet to be verified. With the Brazilian title, however, it has sparked some discussion online about how this is an unnecessary and lazy change.
Using Avengers: Doctor Doom is likely a way to bring more attention to the film for Brazilian moviegoers, capitalizing on Victor von Doom's famous title. However, it's also very much on the nose, as they never referred to Infinity War or Endgame as Avengers: Thanos.
Doomsday also makes the film feel like an event, while still highlighting that Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom is the central antagonist, similar to Avengers: Age of Ultron. Whether this may get rectified by Marvel Studios for the Brazilian market remains to be seen.
This is also coming in the midst of the Avengers: Doomsday trailers being marketed with Avatar: Fire and Ash in theaters, as Marvel Studios is screening one new teaser in theaters only for the next four weeks.
Avengers: Doomsday is slated to open on December 18, 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027.
