The Bold and the Beautiful‘s Matthew Atkinson got viewers’ hopes up on February 6 when he teased a return to one of his favorite places. Of course, it probably wasn’t the location fans were hoping for!
Atkinson shared a soulful snapshot on his Instagram page, reminiscing about his vacation to Kauai, Hawaii, with his wife, Brytnee Atkinson. He looked off into the distance with the lush greenery and puffy clouds behind him — it was easy to get lost in the island’s beauty. “Hawaii, we miss you,” Atkinson wrote in the caption. “The garden island really lived up to the hype. I could totally picture the recreation of Eden here. Looking forward to getting back!”
While Atkinson has a tropical holiday on his mind, Bold and Beautiful fans are wondering when Thomas Forrester will return to the soap. “B&B fans miss you! I’ve barely watched since you’ve been gone,” wrote one follower in the comments. Another viewer added, “Great picture. Please come back to Bold & Beautiful. Thomas is so missed. We are waiting on a ‘Thope’ reunion.”
To refresh your memory, the show put a hard stop to Thomas and Hope’s on-again/off-again relationship by having him get engaged to Paris. Instead of playing out a Paris/Thomas/Hope/Carter triangle like we wanted, the designer and his new fiancée were shipped off to France and have not been seen since.
The Bold and the Beautiful revealed a new opening title sequence just before New Year, with Atkinson dropped from the series’ regular cast roster. It was the biggest clue viewers had received that Thomas was off the daytime landscape — for now. There’s been no word from the soap nor Atkinson on whether we will see him back on Bold & Beautiful in 2025. (However, he did attend the show’s holiday party; see the pics here.)
The new dad hasn’t announced any projects outside of the show yet, so fans can only hope that the writers are secretly working out a way for Thomas to come back to The Bold and the Beautiful sooner versus later. In the meantime, Atkinson is going to manifest another vacation back to Hawaii — and we don’t blame him.
