The Bold and the Beautiful’s Tanner Novlan and Jacqueline MacInnes Wood know what it takes to keep Finn and Steffy ticking. “Sinn” is the ultimate supercouple—romantic, resilient, and committed to their unwavering support of their family. While some fans might find their steady love needing a little juice, Novlan shared with Soaps.com what really makes Finn and Steffy tick — and what danger might lay ahead.
“They’re so strong together and I always love how they lean on each other and support each other,” Novlan says. “I think there’s a lot of cool drama that can come out of that. It’s funny because they have a very functioning marriage, but they’re always pulled in these crazy different ways (Hello, Sheila!) and their values are always tested.” He doesn’t see the consistent obstacles as a bad thing, though, he describes it as a “big positive.”
Novlan also loves it when Bold and Beautiful writers keep Finn and Steffy in the everyday moments of their lives. “I always liked watching them at home when we have a scene where they’re dealing with kids [Hayes and Kelly]. I think it’s fun to have this very powerful, amazing CEO of this fashion conglomerate and a doctor,” he explains. “And then at the end of the day, they come home. Maybe it just resonates with me in life or on some level where you come home, and your kids don’t care about any of this.”
Novlan believes that Finn’s strongest point is his stability, but he’s also curious about what could be hiding around the bend — perhaps a deep, dark secret? “That’s one of the coolest things about playing Finn as an original character. There’s no past that we know about,” he teases. “It’s a blank slate for the writers that they can choose to pull something… they’re not beholden to any previous storylines or anything like that. So, they can let their imaginations run wild.”
Maybe Dr. Finn does have a dark side after all? “Sinn” might not be on solid ground forever!
