FBI: International 3×01 – Aftermath of the explosion

FBI International resumes with an intense aftermath following the dramatic explosion at their headquarters. The episode picks up with the team scrambling to manage the chaos left behind. Jamie is found outside and is quickly assessed by Poer; fortunately, she’s unharmed. Scott and Smitty are accounted for, but Olivia Thorton is missing. Smitty recalls Thorton taking her handcuff keys and gun before the explosion.

In the confusion, an American suspect is seen fleeing the scene, adding an urgent layer to the unfolding drama. R, who was initially outside during the explosion, comes to and immediately switches into rescue mode, locating Olivia but prioritizing the safety of his team over securing her. Amid the chaos, R manages to save his team members but sustains a leg injury while pushing Damon out of harm’s way when a beam is about to collapse. Smitty, having hit her head, along with Reigns, are taken to the hospital by Jamie as the team regroups at an office to strategize the search for Olivia.

Amanda, the newest member, diligently searches for Olivia. The team is apprehensive that Sidon’s bodyguard might find Olivia first. They speculate Olivia may have a contingency plan, leveraging her family connections. General Fin apprehends Sidon, who maintains his innocence regarding Demir’s actions. Despite Sidon’s skepticism, Forester reasons with him, fearing a vengeful Sidon if they mishandle the situation. As pressure mounts to release Sidon, Forester enlists Jubal’s aid to navigate the complexities of the situation.

An intense exchange follows when Olivia questions Forester’s ability to protect her. Their discussion is abruptly cut short when Jamie calls providing updates: Smitty is stable, but Reigns might face leg amputation. Determined, Reigns urges Jamie and Jubal to find a different solution. Their efforts result in an expert successfully saving Reigns’ leg.

Forester’s interrogation of Olivia’s husband reveals little, as he denies knowledge of her whereabouts and expresses concern over her changes. Threats to interrogate their son prove futile, although V uses the opportunity to secretly place a tracker in the boy’s toy. Forester’s decision to release the father and son frustrates Damon, who sees it as a lost opportunity.

Smitty self-discharges from the hospital to continue the mission, while Jamie stays behind. Olivia promises to surrender, but Forester senses deception. The toy tracker leads the team to a store where Olivia is about to reunite with her family. Demir appears, shooting Olivia before fleeing, only for Smitty and Damon to pursue and eventually arrest him.

With Demir in custody, Forester extracts cooperation through blackmail by threatening Demir’s family. Despite the tension, Demir ultimately surrenders. In the midst of this, Jamie confides in Forester about her impending departure, feeling ready to confront her past. The team rallies at the hospital, where Reigns is recovering and expected to be on desk duty until fully healed. Forester offers Amanda a permanent position on the team, sparking her interest and enthusiasm.

As Jamie bids farewell to Forester, the team welcomes Amanda, hopeful that they can maintain their strength with the new addition. Season 3 begins with immediate challenges, setting a high-stakes environment for the team to navigate.
