Fire Country Really Played Games With Gabriela This Week — Plus, Is [Spoiler] Leaving the Show?

The following contains spoilers from the April 18 episode of CBS‘ Fire Country.

Fire Country‘s Gabriela cannot catch a break, man. (In fact, that was my original headline above.)

This week’s episode seated Stephanie Arcila’s character on quite the roller coaster ride, as 42 responded to a house fire where Jake (Jordan Calloway) discovered Finn (guest star Blake Lee) supine on the smokey living room’s floor. As Audrey (Leven Rambin) put out the kitchen fire, Finn explained that he had a pot on the stove when he suffered a back spasm and fell helpless to the floor.

Gabby then arrived in the living room, to see that the house belonged to her flirtation-turned-obsessive texter. That made for an awkward ambulance ride, where Finn apologized for accusing Gabs of “using” him for his shutterbug skills. He was most contrite as he lamented his behavior in the wake of their “very good kiss” 🙄 and Gabriela started to sliiiightly warm back up to him, explaining why his “wedding” quip had turned her off so.

Maybe Finn isn’t an obsessive, jilted would-be beau, Gabby seemed to consider.

Or… maybe he very much is!

Back at Finn’s house, Jake and Audrey discovered that the smoke had come not from the stove, but the basement. Overhearing this update on Gabby’s radio , Finn started to get anxious on the ambulance stretcher. And then we learned why. In his basement dark room were dozens upon dozens of developed photos of Gabriela clearly taken without her knowledge — including one of her inside Bode and Jake’s home that morning!

Jake alerted Vince, who hopped in a rig and sped after the ambulance. When Finn realized that Vince was trying to pull them over, he palmed a nearby scalpel, sprung up from the stretcher and went full-on maniacal, pleading his case to Gabby. When the ambulance pulled to a stop, Finn hurled open the back door, KO’ing Vince, and then darted out into the woods.

So, now Gabriela has an unhinged Finn, in the wind, to worry about! And Manny thus advising to keep her gun handy. Oy.

Elsewhere this week:

* Jake, grappling with the fact that he won’t rise to battalion chief anytime soon at 42, got a job offer in nearby Butte County, at a house whose battalion chief is retiring soon — though he was hesitant to leave his “family” by taking it. Vince got wind of the offer, and over pours of top-shelf whiskey, Jake explained that he just wasn’t sure of where things stood with the two of them. Vince said he is so damn proud of the firefighter and captain that Jake has become, but he also, gently, made clear that there is no promotion in Jake’s remotely immediate future. “Well then, Chief, I guess this is my two weeks’ notice,” Jake replied, as Vince toasted to his promising future, in Butte.

* Bode conspired with Renée and Manny to pull one over on Meriwether, by recording the Oxalta mouthpiece copping to their bully tactics; the leaked audio got the evil conglomerate’s lawyer benched, and prompted sweet settlements for all.
