Things are heating up for the Sheriff Country cast as the spinoff announced yet another actor joining CBS’ Fire Country universe.
Sheriff Country is Fire Country‘s upcoming spinoff expected to premiere in May 2025. The series, which was greenlit for a full series order in May 2024, is centered around Mickey Fox, a sheriff for Edgewater County, who was introduced in a guest role in Fire Country Season 2 as Cal Fire Division Chief Sharon Leone’s stepsister. Another Fire Country spinoff led by Jared Padalecki’s Camden Casey, a SoCal firefighter and training captain who makes a guest appearance in Fire Country Season 3, is also in the works.
“We are focused on mass-appeal franchises,” CBS President and CEO George Cheeks told Deadline in June 2023. “This season’s number one show was Fire Country, which completely lends itself to building out a whole new universe… It became very clear that not only was the show special, it really felt like this could be a great example of us building together a franchise from scratch. And so I’m like, ‘you guys, congratulations, you got your back nine. Now let’s start talking about ideas for new extensions.’ They’ve already come up with some great ones.”
Who’s in the Sheriff Country cast?
Meet the actors announced to star in the Fire Country spinoff so far.
W. Earl Brown as Wes Fox
Brown, best known for his Taanti in Star Wars‘ The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, will play Wes, the father of Sheriff Mickey and the stepfather of Sharon Leone, as a series regular in Sheriff Country. Before the spinoff premieres, Brown will also have a guest role in Fire Country to introduce his character.
Wes is described as an “off-the-grid” marijuana farmer who lives a private life to himself in the mountains of Edgwater, with only a few knowing the location of his marijuana farm, which causes tension with his sheriff daughter as one of the only few to know about his illegal operation. Wes, who’s also described as a “lovable outlaw” and a “redneck-hippie,” is kind and generous toward his family, especially his granddaughter Skye, though his intentions aren’t always known due to his unreliable behavior, according to CBS’ description.
Morena Baccarin as Mickey Fox
Baccarin, who has starred in shows like Homeland and Gotham, plays the lead of Sheriff Country: Sheriff Mickey Fox. Mickey, the stepsister of Sharon Leone, was introduced in a guest role in Fire Country Season 2, who was responsible for arresting Bode before he joined the Cal Fire firefighter program, for which Sharon never forgave her. Viewers also learn in the episode that Mickey’s parents got married when she was young, however, that family life ended when Mickey’s father, Wes, was arrested for drug dealing, which led her to have a zero-tolerance policy around drugs. Mickey also has a daughter named Sky, whom she put into rehab because of Sky’s drug addiction.
Fire Country is available to stream on Paramount Plus.
