Fire Country Spinoff Sheriff Country Casts Two Stars As Series Regulars, Character Details Includes Mickey’s Ex-Husband

Morena Baccarin's Fire Country spinoff show Sheriff Country has cast two series regulars, including Mickey's ex-husband. Baccarin's Mickey Fox first appeared in Fire Country season 2, episode 6, which served as a backdoor pilot for Sheriff Country. The spinoff is due to premiere on CBS in fall 2025 and will focus on Mickey as she helps people, keeps the peace, and deals with personal complications in the town of Edgewater. Sheriff Country is currently finalizing its cast, and has added two more names to the list.

Per Deadline, Sheriff Country has cast Christopher Gorham and Michele Weaver as series regulars, playing the roles of Travis and Cassidy respectively. Travis is Mickey's ex-husband, with whom she shares a daughter they have both helped through addiction. It's said they might still have feelings for each other. Meanwhile, Cassidy is a deputy at the Edgewater County Sheriff's Office who was inspired by Mickey to seek a career in law enforcement. The pilot will be written by Tony Phelan and Joan Rater, with Matt Lopez, Max Thieriot, Phelan, Rater, Jerry Bruckheimer, and KristieAnne Reed serving as producers.

What This Means For Sheriff Country

The Show Is Beginning To Take Shape

  • Fire Country's Billy Burke, Diane Farr, Morena Baccarin, and Max Thieriot standing together looking at something in awe
  • Auggie (Christopher Gorham) looking concerned in Covert Affairs
  • Michele Weaver smiling off to the side on Council of Dads

As a spinoff show, Sheriff County is bound to have a lot of expectations. Baccarin's Mickey is due to make another appearance on Fire Country before the series premieres. The casting choices give an idea of what audiences can expect from Sheriff Country as a show, and it is clear that Mickey's private life, and the potential conflicts that come with it, are going to play a prominent role in its narrative direction. Fire Country has thrived on strong character work, and it seems likely that its spinoff is going to go down a similar route.

The casting of Gorham and Weaver brings diversity and range to the show. When the series premieres, it can begin to flesh out two prominent characters who are going to impact the overarching storyline. Mickey will have plenty of conflict in her life, and knowing that Travis and Cassidy are going to be series regulars in the show means they are likely to have a massive impact on Mickey and the experiences that shape her.

Our Take On Sheriff Country's Chances Of Success

It Can Be A Hit Like Its Sister Show

Morena Baccarin runs through the woods in Fire Country

There are plenty of factors that play a role in making a show successful, and there is a good chance that Sheriff Country can become the big hit that Fire Country has proven to be. If it can assemble a strong cast, interesting story arcs, and a link to its sister show, the new show can stand on its own while building on the formula that worked so well for its predecessor. With Fire Country season 4 renewed, there are plenty more opportunities for crossovers and the chance to tie Sheriff Country to a strong existing franchise.
