Chase Stokes may be famous for his on-screen love story on Outer Banks, but fans are more interested in the heartthrob’s real-life romances. From high-profile actresses to a country music star, the Maryland native has quite an impressive dating history.
Xiomara Montalvo
Chase dated his high school sweetheart Xiomara Montalvo while attending Timber Creek High School. According to an Instagram post shared by Xiomara’s family member, Lauren, the couple relocated to Los Angeles in 2017 before breaking up right before the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I went through a breakup a little bit before quarantine, and it was with somebody I’d been with for almost 10 years,” he told The Strategist at the time, without naming her. “I’ve been writing about it, drawing inspiration from the isolation of quarantine — there’s a similar kind of heartbreak involved.”
Madelyn Cline
Chase sparked an off-screen romance with his Outer Banks costar Madelyn Cline after meeting on set in May 2019. There was a prevailing theory that they first met as extras on another series, noting they both had minor roles in Netflix’s Stranger Things.
“I’ve heard a couple of speculations out there that we met on Stranger Things,” Chase exclusively told Life & Style in July 2020. “We actually never met. She did season 2 — I did season 1, and I was there for, you know, a millisecond. So if you blink, you’ll miss me. She definitely had the bigger part out of the two of us.”
The pair later went Instagram official in June 2020 with a photo of them at the beach. “Cats outta the bag,” Chase captioned the post, to which she commented, “Topper punching the air rn” and “I’ve fallen and I cant get up.”
Although Madelyn confirmed she was “in love” with Chase in November 2020, the pair broke up one year later. She later opened up about what it’s like to work with her ex after their breakup in a 2023 interview with Cosmopolitan.
“We always said that the job remains untouched. Nothing else, personal or negative, will touch the job. And while that’s not always easy, our job is to leave the show better than we found it, to leave the season better than we found it. And I’m really appreciative of that,” she explained. “My thing is, I don’t owe anyone an explanation. I am a really private person. There’s a part of me that is for me and nobody else. But in hindsight, duh, making my relationship public made it everybody else’s business. And I realized the negative side effects of that while going through the breakup, realizing I had let people in and then felt like I couldn’t get anybody out. It just hit me like a freight train. I wanted us both to move on and be happy.”
Izabella Metz
Chase was linked to the model in 2022 after they were photographed on a night out in New York City.
“Chase and Izzy went to a party at The Box together. They were seen arriving and exiting together, and then they went to Marquee and left there together as well,” an insider told Us Weekly at the time. “They were out partying late. They were really flirty — hugging and holding hands. They were snuggling and canoodling in the car. They were definitely trying to be low-key.” It’s unclear how long they were together.
Kelsea Ballerini
Chase confirmed his relationship with the country music star in January 2023 after sharing a photo of them attending the 2023 College Football Playoff National Championship.
Kelsea later revealed she “slid into” Chase’s DMs following her divorce from Morgan Evans in 2022. “He shoots [Outer Banks] in Charleston, and my manager lives there. … He was like, ‘You know who’s really cute, like, when you’re ready? Chase.’ I was like, ‘You’re so right.’” she explained on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast in February 2023. “I’ve never seen his show, but I just knew of him, and I just swan dove right on in.”
