In advance of World Down Syndrome Day on March 21, the National Down Syndrome Society has released a mini musical with some impressive stars.
The minute-and-42-second clip posted on TikTok features Caterina Scorsone, known to fans of Grey’s Anatomy as Dr. Amelia Shepherd.
Making the clip even more special is that Scorsone’s daughter, Pippa, was born with Down syndrome, which prompted the actress to become an advocate for children with disabilities.
In the musical number, a character named Sophia overhears her parents discussing what she should wear to an upcoming wedding through a closed door. She opens the door and belts out, “I want to be where this decision is made! Where this decision is made. I want to have a decision in the dress that I wear. Don’t you think it’s fair?” which plays into the campaign’s theme.
“This #WorldDownSyndromeDay , we’ve joined forces with @coordown and other international Down syndrome organizations to spread the powerful message: No Decision Without Us. 💪,” reads the caption under the video of the mini-musical.
“People with disabilities deserve a seat at the table where decisions are made about their lives, their futures, and their rights. Let’s work together toward a world where every voice is valued. #NoDecisionWithoutUs #WDSD25 ,” it concludes.
Visitors weighed in with comments.
“amelia shepherd what are you doing here,” one asked?
Another responded about her daughter with Down’s syndrome, which prompted someone else to respond, “So cool that she did this. I’m disabled and my parents have never been advocates for me so I’m glad she has her,” they wrote.
Some fans were so impressed with the clip, they compared it to Neflix’s recent Oscar-nominated musical.
“This is what Emilia Perez thought it was doing,” one wrote, with another adding, “This is what Emilia Perez thinks it was.”
“This was phenomenal!!!” another viewed chimed in.
