And she has once again garnered acclaim for her role in the new musical crime comedy Emilia Pérez, which has received a positive reception following its world premiere at the 77th Cannes Film Festival. In a recent interview with Variety, Gomez expressed her desire to pursue a role similar to the one played by the Marvel star on Broadway.

However, the actress denied the presumption, saying, “Oh my god, that would be so hard. It wouldn’t be a musical.” She revealed her dream role to be something like Scarlett Johansson’s performance in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, citing it as a major inspiration.

But I saw Scarlett Johansson in “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof,” and I found it profound and beautiful. I don’t think it would be a big production, but I would love to dive into a role like that.

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof is a 1955 three-act play written by Tennessee Williams. Johansson took on one of the leading roles as Maggie alongside Benjamin Walker in a 2013 Broadway revival. The play has also inspired the 1958 film, starring Elizabeth Taylor and Paul Newman in the lead roles.

With her constant success in her on-screen ventures, from the mystery comedy-drama to her recent project Emilia Pérez, the singer-actress now seems eager to explore more such avenues in the future, admitting that it is something she wouldn’t have been able to do earlier in her career.

When asked if she could have taken similar roles in her 20s, the Emilia Pérez actress said, “I would have been a different person.” Gomez acknowledged her significant growth over the past few years and expressed satisfaction in having control over her needs and desires.

I’m still the same me, but I’ve grown a lot, especially in the past two to three years. I’ve enjoyed getting to know myself, my boundaries, and my needs. I feel very happy and in control of what is good for me and what is awesome.
