Courteney Cox first met her former husband, David Arquette, while shooting for the Scream franchise. They starred in three consecutive movies together and then got married in 1999. He even appeared in a small cameo role for Friends in 1996, where he played Malcolm, Ursula Buffay’s former boyfriend.

But all was not sunny in their relationship, they faced various turbulences before the ultimate storm, which led to their divorce. In an interview with People, the Friends actress discussed one major conflict, her multiple miscarriages.
[We bounced] back pretty quickly. I don’t say it’s a walk in the park. But what are you going to do? We just try again.
She said it upset her, but they were determined to get past it and try again. The couple then got blessed with a daughter, Coco, in 2004. Later in 2010, in an interview for InStyle (via Huff Post), she revealed that they went for countless therapies and counseling. Ultimately, the duo filed for divorce in 2012 after a trial separation.
The bitter truth: lifetime of regret
The actress emphasized that she and Arquette tried their best to make the marriage work, but alas, it wasn’t meant to be. In 2014, in an issue of More magazine (as per the Daily Mail), Cox mentioned their best efforts to save the relationship.

Though the actress is content with having tried, she does have one everlasting regret. Cox revealed that she felt sad for her daughter, since divorce is always hard on a child. When asked by The Guardian (per The Dirt) in 2021 to whom she would like to apologize and why, she mentioned her daughter.
