Jennifer Lawrence Calls New Leo DiCaprio Action Thriller the “Best Movie” She’s Ever Seen After Rare Date Night With Husband Cooke Maroney

J-Law's Boldest Review Yet

If you were waiting for a sign to go to the movie theater this weekend, Jennifer Lawrence just gave you a neon-flashing one. The No Hard Feelings star, known for her unfiltered honesty, didn't hold back during a recent appearance on "BAFTA Playback," dropping a massive endorsement for Paul Thomas Anderson’s new action epic, One Battle After Another.

Lawrence, who was breaking down her own iconic career moments, paused to discuss a specific scene from the new thriller featuring Leonardo DiCaprio struggling with a payphone. Her verdict? It wasn't just good—it was life-changing.

“This is the best movie I’ve ever seen,” Lawrence declared, completely serious. “This is One Battle After Another.”

Jen has taste. If she says it's the best, I'm buying my ticket immediately. She doesn't lie about this stuff.

A "Thank You" to Husband Cooke Maroney

The experience was apparently so moving that it turned into a major moment of gratitude for her husband, art gallery director Cooke Maroney. In a rare peek into their low-key marriage, Lawrence revealed that Maroney was the mastermind behind the outing, having secured their seats weeks in advance to ensure they didn't miss out.

“When it was over, everyone applauded,” she shared, describing the electric atmosphere in the theater. “I just kept thanking my husband over and over and over again because he had booked the tickets, like two weeks in advance, and I just couldn’t say anything else other than just like, thank you for that experience.”

It sounds like the Maroney household knows how to do date night right. Forget dinner and flowers; give J-Law a three-hour action masterpiece and she is a happy woman.

I love that she thanked him for booking tickets. That is literally my love language. He’s a keeper.

Obsessed With the "Impossible" Pace

So, what exactly about the 2-hour-and-42-minute film had Lawrence flooring it? According to the Oscar winner, it was the sheer adrenaline. She urged fans to skip the streaming wait and head straight to the cinema, describing the movie’s rhythm as an “impossible pace to uphold.”

“There’s not an extra minute in it, at no point does it drag,” she insisted. For a movie that runs nearly three hours, that is high praise. The film follows DiCaprio as an ex-revolutionary forced back into a life of combat to protect his daughter (played by breakout star Chase Infiniti) from a corrupt military officer.

"My God": The Sean Penn Factor

While she obviously has love for her Don't Look Up co-star DiCaprio, Lawrence saved some of her most visceral reactions for the film's villain, played by Sean Penn. Penn portrays Colonel Steven J. Lockjaw, a character that apparently left Lawrence shook.

“I mean, Leo, obviously, but I mean, my God,” she said of Penn's performance. She added that Anderson’s direction makes every character feel “so visceral, so real that… it’s so alive and you’re in it.”

With Lawrence leading the hype train, One Battle After Another is looking more and more like the frontrunner to beat this awards season. If it's good enough to make J-Law thank her husband repeatedly, it’s probably good enough for the Academy.
