No one steals the red carpet spotlight quite like Jennifer Lawrence.
The actress was at the Cannes Film Festival promoting her new documentary Bread and Roses in Cannes on Sunday.
The 32-year-old did a stylish day-to-night transition with ease, from daytime chic to dazzling designer.
The Hollywood star has produced the documentary Bread and Roses, which explores the lives of three Afghan women following the Taliban’s takeover in Kabul. She joined co-producer Justine Ciarrocchi at the 76th annual film festival ahead of its premiere.
The afternoon photocall was an elegant affair, with the X-Men actress dressed in a chic silver, backless knit dress, with strap detailing and sandals.
Her accompanying beauty look was also lowkey with her dark blonde hair swept back in a low chignon, natural-toned makeup and simple earrings.

Then, for the documentary’s red carpet premiere, The Hunger Games actor went all out; in a dramatic, vibrant red gown with a full skirt.
The stunning gown was said to have been custom-made for her, by Dior (she has been a brand ambassador for the fashion house for over 10 years, since her first campaign in 2012).
The showstopper was sleeveless with spaghetti straps and a fitted bodice. The Oscar-winner let the gown to the talking with minimal, fresh-faced makeup, and long flowing locks teamed with a delicate diamond necklace.

While Lawrence has brought her trademark glamour to the event, the project is a serious one, far away from the flashing lights of the red carpet.
‘This documentary was born out of emotion and necessity,’ Lawrence told the BBC of the project, who wanted to do something after feeling ‘helpless and frustrated’ about the devastation she was seeing on the news.

‘It is devastating to think about the sudden loss of control Afghan women have endured. They currently have no autonomy within their country. It is so important for them to be given the opportunity to document their own story, in their own way.’
The film is helmed by Sahra Mani, a documentary maker who co-founded the independent Kabul production company, Afghan Doc House.
