Jordan Peele Can Save the MCU’s Most Troubled Movie – and Fans Want Kevin Feige To Let Him Cook

By Mike Garcia 12/30/2025

Rumors that Jordan Peele is on Marvel Studios' hit list to direct a future MCU movie began circulating online yesterday, and even managed to attract the attention of Jordan's MonkeyPaw Productions. It did not take long for people to speculate about what movie Peele could be in talks to work on, and fans are fully on board with the idea that the director could be the one to finally crack the conundrum of how to bring Blade back to screens.

Peele has been behind some of the most iconic horror movies of the century, including Get Out and Us. Could Peele turn his hand to the world of superheroes and do what so many others have struggled to do in helming the MCU's live-action introduction of the Daywalker despite previously turning it down? It is something fans would love to see.

"Interesting choice. Peele style could bring a darker, more grounded Blade. If Marvel lets him cook, this could actually work," @actorkasim said on X. @Mandevil23 shared a more candid view, writing, "Just let Jordan Peele be the director for Blade ffs!" @BatKilmer followed up with, "Jordan Peele doing Blade as the first film after Secret Wars sounds too good to be true."

'Blade' Has Been One of Marvel's Most Troubled Productions

It is now six years since Peele turned down the chance to direct Blade in the MCU back when the film was originally announced at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019. While Mahershala Ali has remained onboard the project, he is pretty much the only person who has.

In 2021, Stacy Osei-Kuffour was hired as the first writer for the movie, and was subsequently replaced by Michael Green in 2023, who was then superseded by Eric Pearson, who joined in 2024. Original director Bassam Tariq left the production in 2022 and was not replaced until 2024 when Yann Demange both arrived and left very quickly. Since then, the movie has added Mia Goth to the cast, shifted its expected filming date several times, and as of July 2025 was said to be shifting its setting to a more modern one than originally planned, and was "in need of significant development."

The biggest surprise about Blade is how the movie has managed to keep Ali on board for so long without moving forward at all. Ali himself avoided questions on the subject while promoting the summer's blockbuster Jurassic World Rebirth, and previously said that he has not been privy to behind-the-scenes chatter about the movie while saying he just "takes it a day at a time."

To make matters worse, original Blade star Wesley Snipes returned to his former Marvel role in Deadpool & Wolverine, and made sure that everyone was well aware that there was only one Blade – and only ever would be one Blade. It was a line delivered in the movie for comedy effect but ended up being almost prophetic. At this moment in time, it is more believable that there could only ever be one Blade than the new movie to actually find its feet and get running.
