NCIS Stars Address Whether Knight & Palmer Could Revive Their Romance Following Season 22 Confrontation

Warning: SPOILERS ahead for NCIS season 22, episode 4!NCIS stars Katrina Law and Brian Dietzen address whether Jessica Knight and Jimmy Palmer could revive their romance following a recent season 22 confrontation. NCIS season 21 ended with the duo breaking up after Knight takes a job as Chief REACT Training Officer, moving herself out of the titular team and to a farther location, negating the time she spends with them. However, in season 22, episode 4, the pair reunited during a nuclear scare, having a heart-to-heart and deciding that their relationship isn't going to work because of the paths they're pursuing.

Speaking with Us Weekly, however, Law and Dietzen discussed how, for right now, their NCIS couple of Knight and Palmer are planning to reassess their relationship as friends. However, both actors didn't rule out the possibility of their romance rekindling later in the season, since they're still attracted to one another. Law teased the writers "promised…some juiciness" in later episodes, potentially hinting at a deeper dive into their romance potentially coming back. Check out what Law and Dietzen had to say below:

Dietzen: Figuring out how to navigate that, how to potentially find happiness as friends and maybe find happiness with other people, in a romantic way is gonna lead to some really awkward scenes. It’s not as though the door is closed on a romantic revival at some point, but man, the twists and turns are gonna have to happen for that to occur.

Law: There’s definitely still looks between Jimmy and Knight. The attraction is still alive and, you know, these two are still kind of checking each out randomly throughout the series. It’s not gone. … People date, sometimes it works out, some people keep breaking up and getting back together, breaking up, getting back together. Or maybe they just break up and it’s always something there…. There’s definitely an underlying attraction and love between them that you will feel throughout the rest of the season.

Dietzen: Is there a line that we’re gonna cross again? Or is that set in stone or are we never gonna tread back there again?

Law: They have promised us some juiciness later on in the season and going forward. I’m excited to see what it is.

Knight and Palmer's NCIS breakup wasn't over personal issues, but instead was a decision made because of the different paths their lives are taking. The former's decision to leave the team was made due to the opportunity she wanted to pursue, something that, unfortunately, required her to focus less on the relationship she was building. However, the latest episode saw them reconcile to some degree, potentially opening the door for a new bond to form as the rest of the episodes play out.

Since the writers have teased some potentially deeper dives into their relationship moving forward, it seems like there's still plenty of potential for the pair to get together again as they repair what was broken. Although there's no guarantee that this ends up being the path they take, it's still a potential development that could have them realize they can still make romance work in NCIS season 22. Despite their differing circumstances now, their love for one another might be enough to power through whatever obstacles come their way in forthcoming episodes.

Since there's so much tension surrounding Knight and Palmer after their breakup, it feels almost inevitable that they'll wind up back together before NCIS season 22 is over. The rest of their episodes could potentially explore how they can make their relationship work despite the different paths they're now traversing. This could include another heart-to-heart where they realize they still want to be together, and try finding a way to have everything they want at the same time.
