NCIS’s First 5 Seasons Are Coming To Netflix Very Soon

NCIS seasons 1 through 5 are coming to Netflix very soon, the streaming service soon being the home of the show's earliest investigations. Originally conceived as a spinoff of the '90s legal drama JAG, the series has become a long-running franchise all of its own, with NCIS season 22 currently airing on CBS. The show also sports six spinoffs to its name, two of which are still ongoing, and one that has yet to be released. This new era of the show highlights how much its evolved after over 20 years of investigations throughout its history.

Now, Netflix has confirmed that NCIS seasons 1 through 5 will be arriving on the platform next year, just in time for the start of 2025. The streaming service confirmed the episodes will arrive on January 23, allowing subscribers to experience the very beginning of the titular team's cases. This offers the perfect way for newcomers of the series to get interested in its beginnings, watching as members of the original team tackle mysteries and crimes across 113 episodes.

The cast of NCIS is the most notable change between early seasons and the show's current lineup. In season 1, the main characters are Leory Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon), Caitlin Todd (Sasha Alexander), Anthony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly), Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette), and Ducky Mallard (David McCallum). While Tim McGee (Sean Murray) also appears, he's not a main cast member until season 2, while Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen) is recurring through season 9. Out of all the original characters from season 1, only McGee and Palmer are still on the series as of writing.

This original team is considered the classic lineup of the show, long before the introduction of newer characters who now populate the series. The seasons were also made prior to the franchise's larger expansion, which began with a two-part backdoor pilot for NCIS: Los Angeles in season 6. Since the series has continued its spinoff focus, with NCIS: Sydney and NCIS: Origins currently airing, while NCIS: Tony & Ziva continues development, the early seasons offer a simpler time for the show with the team who started it all.
