Ahead of its winter break, NBC confirms when One Chicago will return with brand-new episodes. NBC and Wolf Entertainment's Windy City-based franchise is currently amid interesting storylines for the people at Firehouse 51, Intelligence Unit, and Gaffney ER. That said, as with the annual schedule for Network TV, a mandatory break is coming up. This allows the cast and crew some break from rigorous filming, and getting some new episodes ready ahead of time for its eventual return. Prior to that hiatus, however, NBC has already revealed when the One Chicago shows will come back with fresh stories in 2025.
In a new report by Deadline, the One Chicago franchise is set to return on Wednesday, January 8, 2025. Dick Wolf's shows will simply re-assume their respective timeslots with Chicago Med season 10, Chicago Fire season 13, and Chicago PD season 12 airing at 8 pm, 9 pm, and 10 pm, respectively. Sadly, there is no word yet on what the show's comeback storylines will be, but it's safe to say that they will be tied to the winter finales next month.

A One Chicago Crossover Is Happening
Currently, Chicago Med season 10, Chicago Fire season 13, and Chicago PD season 12 are all in an exciting time in their storytelling. After a particularly changing year during the shortened 2023-2024 TV season, defined by multiple big exits, including from long-time cast members such as Eammon Walker's Wallace Boden and Tracy Spiridakos' Hailey Upton, the franchise is starting to find its footing again. All shows have new cast members, who are slowly settling in. By the time One Chicago returns in 2025, that all of them have found their place in their respective shows.
Aside from this, it has also been confirmed that there will be a One Chicago crossover in 2025. The last one was from half a decade ago, and so much has changed in the universe since then. It would be exciting to see old and new faces mingle as Chicago's top first responders work on a single crisis. This is something that viewers looked forward to every year during One Chicago's earliest years, so it's great to bring this tradition back.

In the past, One Chicago is usually awarded with a multi-season renewal. That isn't the case this year, however, as all shows are only guaranteed to run until this current year. There's always a possibility that NBC will eventually announce greenlighting more seasons, but for now, Chicago Med season 10, Chicago Fire season 13, and Chicago PD season 12's storytelling should take into consideration that this could be their final year on air. For what it's worth, however, the network should see how the whole year shakes out, especially with several new additions to the universe, before making a decision.
