When Capcom released its remake of Resident Evil 4 back in 2023, it was able to achieve the impossible: it made one of the greatest games of all-time even better. The Resi 4 remake stayed true to the original's roots while adding in a ton of new awesome features and surprises.
But what if 2023's Resident Evil 4 wasn't quite different enough for you? What if Capcom had taken a little more inspiration from Resident Evil 7 and allowed us to experience the horror via a first-person perspective? Resident Evil 4 is a much more action-heavy game, but that doesn't mean first-person couldn't make it awesome. That's my theory, anyway. And now I have proof.
Resident Evil 4 Just Got An Awesome First-Person Mod
You can download it for free right now

Resident Evil 4 has been reborn (again) thanks to an incredible mod from ‘ErwinGunsmith’ that completely transforms the game into a survival-horror/tactical shooter hybrid. The mod is available to download now, is completely free, and lets you play through the entire game from start to finish.
Here's what the mod's incredibly talented creator has to say on NexusMods:
"This mod enables a tactical First-Person mode with iron sights for every weapon, custom aim stances, animations, and more. You can toggle between 1st and 3rd Person. This mod is mostly finished but still needs a few things fixed. I'll add more details here later but overall it works well. I am also releasing the different components of this mod separately."
As far as mods go, this one is pretty feature-packed. It includes new sights for every single weapon, the ability to create custom aiming stances, and even the option to adjust the camera position and field of view. Now just imagine a Regenerator shambling towards you in the dark in first-person. Are you brave enough to check this one out? I'm honestly sure if I am.
This Should Keep You Busy Till Resident Evil 9: Requiem
Leon is back, baby
This is the perfect mod if you can't quite wait to spend some more time with Leon in Resident Evil Requiem. The upcoming Resi sequel finally revealed one of gaming's worst-kept secrets during The Game Awards, confirming the former rookie-cop turned badass U.S. agent will be back at last.
What's Leon been up to since Resident Evil 6? We'll have to wait until February 27, 2026, to find out for sure. My guess is that he's doing lots of backflips and punching zombies in the head, though.
