Having been soap fans all of our lives, we’ve had to accept that our favorite shows often aren’t shown a whole lot of respect. That’s especially true around the holidays, when soaps are casually knocked off the airwaves for everything from parades to sporting events. Usually, these disruptions lead to a nation-wide disruption which means that the scheduled episode is pre-empted and we don’t miss any of the action.
Unfortunately, that won’t be the case today. Because while a football game will knock Bold & Beautiful off the airwaves for many viewers on New Year’s Eve, it is not going to be a national pre-emption. Those on the East Coast will be able to watch a brand new episode — in which Will finally clues in to what’s going on with Remy — those on the West Coast will instead be served up the Sun Bowl. (Playing in this particular event? The Louisville Cardinals against the Washington Huskies.)
For those of who you are not going to be able to watch the soap on CBS, we will have a recap of the show — as always — which you’ll be able to find here once it has aired. Better still, if you’re in one of the impacted areas and would like to watch live, you can, as always, do so on Paramount Plus. (Currently, the streaming service is offering one week free, after which it’ll cost you $7.99 a month.)
Now, don’t get us started on the fact that sporting events are never knocked off the air for soaps, or how upset those fans would be were it to happen. That’s a conversation for another day!
In any case, the show is slated to air in most markets on New Year’s Day, although it will be showing a rerun. In fact, the episode that’s airing seems a pretty strong indicator of how a currently-unfolding plot is going to resolve itself in the days and weeks ahead. (Here’s why we say that.)
Never fear… by Thursday, everything is back to normal and everyone will be getting the episodes at their regularly scheduled time.
