The Batman Part II is already shaping up to be a very exciting sequel, and new casting reports could make the DC movie even more fascinating. If true, it wouldn’t just introduce a classic Gotham tragedy, but could ironically revive a romance between actors Marvel Studios left on the table.

While Matt Reeves' first Batman movie, starring Robert Pattinson, was released in 2022, The Batman Part II is expected to be releasedin 2027. However, we've recently received some new casting reports that could be significant for the upcoming Batman sequel, while also having an interesting connection to the MCU.

The Batman Part II Has Reportedly Cast Sebastian Stan and Scarlett Johansson As Harvey & Gilda Dent

Recent reports have revealed that Sebastian Stan has been cast in The Batman Part II, with expectations pointing to Harvey Dent aka Two-Face. Likewise, Scarlet Johannsson is reportedly in final talks for the DC movie as well, with the role in question rumored to be Gilda Dent, Harvey's wife.

If both roles are accurate, the presence of both Dents strongly hints at a Long Halloween-inspired storyline for The Batman Part II, where the Dents’ relationship played a crucial role before Harvey’s tragic transformation into Two-Face.

That said, seeing Stan and Johansson paired romantically in a DC film would be significant in its own right. Not only do both actors share a history playing major superheroes in the MCU, but their Marvel characters also had a romance in the comics that the MCU chose not to explore.

The Batman Part II's Potential Romance Can Make Up For No Bucky/Black Widow In The MCU

In the comics, Bucky Barnes and Black Widow share a deep, complicated past thanks to their shared history in The Red Room where they first formed their romance, eventually reuniting shortly after the events of the original Civil War event on the page.

While it would have made all the sense in the world to replicate Bucky and Natasha's relationship in the MCU, Marvel Studios chose to put Black Widow in a relationship with Bruce Banner's Hulk instead, albeit one that didn't really go anywhere before Natasha's death in Avengers: Endgame.

As such, it's quite possible that a dark Harvey and Gilda Dent romance in The Batman Part II could finally give Stan and Johansson the tragic love story they never got with Marvel. It's going to be fascinating to see if Stan and Johansson will indeed be playing the Dents the closer we get to the DC film's release in 2027.

The Batman Part II is set to release in theaters on October 1st, 2027.
