The top 3 worst and best-rated Friends episodes of all time, according to IMDb

Despite coming out 20 years ago in 1994, Friends remains one of the most beloved comedy shows ever created. Spanning 10 years, 10 seasons and 236 episodes, the sitcom became one of the most important shows of the 90s and early 00s.

It also launched its six leading cast members to fame, with Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer and the late Matthew Perry all becoming household names.

While the series boasts too many popular episodes to count, there are also some that didn’t quite live up to fans’ high expectations. According to IMDb, its highest-rated episode has an impressive 9.7/10 following votes from over 13,000 viewers.

Meanwhile, its lowest-rated episode lands at a respectable 6.9/10, with over 5,500 fans taking the time to vote. Now, let’s take a moment to look back at the iconic sitcom’s three best and worst-ranked stories.

Ross and Rachel almost kissing in Friends

With a 9.4 rating, The One with the Embryos comes in at third place. The episode sees Phoebe attend an appointment for her uterus to be implanted with her brother Frank’s embryos, as she is acting as a surrogate for his wife Alice.

Meanwhile, what starts as a seemingly harmless game between Chandler and Joey against Monica and Rachel dramatically escalates to a high-stakes competition, and hilarity ensues.

The episode follows Ross and Phoebe as they race to the airport to stop Rachel from leaving for Paris. It also sees Monica and Chandler pack up their apartment ahead of their move to their new house, with Joey buying them a new chick and duck as a parting gift.

The episode follows Chandler to Tulsa, where he is forced to spend Christmas with his colleagues. During his absence, Monica worries he might have an affair with a former Miss Oklahoma runner-up while he is there.

The episode ranked second-worst, The One with Mac and C.H.E.E.S.E, perhaps gets a 7.1 score for its lack of memorability. The plot centres around Chandler and Joey, with the former forgetting to write down a message about the latter’s audition time changing for a lead role in a TV show.
