Tracker Fall Finale Cliffhanger: Is Colter About to Solve His White Whale Case? And Is [Spoiler] Still Alive?

Tracker Season 2 has been especially lean on backstory. Shaw family drama has been kept to a minimum (with the exception of a divisive supernatural detour) and there hasn’t been much momentum in the Gina Pickett case — that is, until now.

After establishing Colter’s connection to Gina’s sister Camille (Floriana Lima) in the Oct. 13 premiere, the missing persons case received nary a mention until Episode 6, when Colter linked up with Keaton (Brent Sexton). After he helped the retired detective solve his own white whale case, Keaton offered to return the favor. And that brings us to Sunday’s fall finale, an otherwise run-of-the-mill episode that is bookended by two very important scenes.

The first scene precedes our main title sequence. Colter and Camille are having drinks at a dimly lit restaurant — the same restaurant they came to the night that Gina vanished. There, Camille tells Colter that she’s ready to put her sister’s disappearance behind her.

“Gina’s gone,” she tells him. “And whatever we had, I’m pretty sure it’s gone, too.” She’s ready to cut ties with her former beau because, well… “I can’t see you without seeing her.”

Before Colter has a chance to agree to Camille’s request, he receives a phone call from Velma, and he’s off to work his case of the week — which, we’ll be honest, is not of particular interest here. So, let’s skip ahead to the end, when Colter receives another phone call — this one from Keaton. He gives Colter an address, and tells him to get there as soon as possible.

We come to find that Keaton has tied up a potential suspect. He’s a former associate of Frank Whales, the man Colter believes took and/or killed Gina. “We got into something,” the associate says. “Wasn’t our fault, heavy stuff… we didn’t have a choice.” He reveals that a man, only ever referred to as Teacher, “knew things about us. Bad stuff. Held it over our heads. Even the others…. He kept a long line of pretty boys to do his bidding.” Teacher wanted Gina, and he made Whales lure her to a place called The Farm. “He said he planted things there.”

Colter asks Whales’ associate if Gina is still alive, but before he has a chance to answer, the episode cuts to black. “To be continued….”

Tracker now begins an 11-week hiatus. Season 2 will resume with Episode 9 on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2025; click here to see CBS’ complete midseason schedule.
