Art the Clown isn’t just back. He’s thriving. It’s his season, baby, and we’re just living (for now) in it. The Terrifier movies have carved their way into horror history, turning a low-budget slasher into a full-blown cult phenomenon. Figuring out where to watch all of the Terrifier movies this spooky season is practically a rite of passage for horror fans.
From the original gorefest that started it all, to Terrifier 2‘s unrelenting chaos, to the somehow even bloodier Terrifier 3 having released last year, this stuff is simply pure, unfiltered nightmare fuel. And yet… we can’t help ourselves. Art’s not really human, more like a demon with human-like tendencies. He’s a total baller who does whatever he wants, whenever he wants. He’s terrifying, sure, but admit it: he’s also weirdly adorable. Especially when you spot that Art the Clown Funko Pop! on Amazon. Cute little guy. Horrifying, but cute.
Played by the unshakably committed David Howard Thornton, Art is equal parts performance art and pure evil. The man deserves an award, honestly. A MasterClass, even. How he manages to be this funny, this frightening, and this… fabulous is beyond us. Remember that moment in the first movie? The one where he danced in a… *checks notes*… wig? Like he was auditioning for RuPaul’s Drag Race
Terrifier (2016)
It’s the film that started Art the Clown’s rambunctious quest to kill. The one you heard about through the grapevine as being the goriest movie to ever exist. The one you had to see to understand that, yeah, that just might be true. It’s low budget, it looks like it was shot in an abandoned college town, and the quality is a little microwaved, but, man — this is some good horror. Starring Samantha Scaffidi playing college student Victoria Heyes, this one left us traumatized.
Terrifier 2 (2022)
Terrifier 2 is where the franchise really found its final girl. And, no, not just any final girl, but full-on warrior queen energy. Enter Sienna (Lauren LaVera), decked out in homemade armor, literal wings, and more emotional baggage than anyone should have in a slasher sequel. Alongside her younger brother Jonathan (Elliott Fullam), the two make their debut in this blood-soaked fever dream — and yeah, they weren’t in the first film, but now? They’ve become the backbone of the franchise. It’s giving very Jamie Lee Curtis in Halloween. Oh, and speaking of, if you’re interested in watching all of the Halloween movies, you can check those out here.
Terrifier 3 (2024)
The brother and sister duo are back after that gruesome evening with Art the Clown five years prior — and that demonic clown still hasn’t given up. This time, it’s Christmas, which means more lights, more blood, and more wildly creative ways to ruin the holidays. Sienna’s tougher, Jonathan’s smarter, and Art? Somehow even meaner, and certainly not in the Christmas spirit.
