The University of North Carolina men’s basketball program had a bit of a down year in 2024. This season, they’re looking to right the ship and challenge Duke University and the University of Louisville in a competitive ACC. Keep reading to learn where to watch UNC basketball games in 2025.
Most teams around the country would be happy with the season UNC put together in 2024, but the North Carolina Tar Heels don’t seem like most teams. A winning record and an invitation to the Big Dance is the bare minimum for a blue blood program like UNC. In 2025, the Tar Heels hope to make it a lot deeper into the tournament than the Round of 64.
UNC has been up and down under head coach Hubert Davis, who took over for the legendary Roy Williams in 2021. They made it all the way to the NCAA Championship Game in his first year but failed to even earn an invite to the tournament the following season. Year three saw the Tar Heels lose in the Sweet Sixteen as a No. 1 seed, and their Round of 64 exit in 2024 has many wondering if Davis should be on the hot seat heading into 2025. But UNC has the talent to hang with anyone in the country, and Davis has proven he can coach the Tar Heels to deep postseason runs.
North Carolina is built around one of the most formidable frontcourts in the country. Arizona transfer Henri Veesaar is a towering seven-foot center who can protect the rim, rack up rebounds, and score with a surprising amount of agility and touch. At 6’10”, Caleb Wilson is a long and athletic forward, who is projected to be a high lottery pick in the NBA Draft. These two giants should be able to overpower smaller frontcourts and win games almost by themselves.
Complementing Wilson and Veesaar are guards Seth Trimble, a high-effort slasher, and Kyan Evans, one of the most-watched shooters in the NCAA right now. The rest of the roster is made up of versatile defenders, valuable role players, and accurate shooters. Other names to watch include Luka Bogavac, Jarin Stevenson, and Jonathan Powell. UNC may be a long shot for the national title this season and somewhat of an afterthought in the ACC, but this is a well-constructed and deep team. The Tar Heels may be a lot better than people think in 2025.
You can watch every game on the UNC men’s basketball schedule live without cable on DIRECTV STREAM, Hulu + Live TV, Sling TV, and more. Exact team schedules are decided by networks during the season and are subject to change. Blackout restrictions may apply depending on your location.
