Avengers: Doomsday will feature Captain America and Peggy Carter's child, and the comics explain who that character could turn out to be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After a long wait, which included Chris Evans denying he was part of Avengers: Doomsday's cast multiple times, we finally have confirmation that Steve will return in the 2026 MCU movie, with a twist.
The first Avengers: Doomsday trailer, which was released in theaters with Avatar: Fire and Ash, shows Steve Rogers' return, which includes Peggy Carter's house from Avengers: Endgame's ending. While Hayley Atwell's Peggy was not seen, Steve was holding a baby, which is, of course, his child with Peggy. That baby will no doubt be important to the MCU's future, and the comics might show how.
There Are Two Steve Rogers Sons For Avengers: Doomsday To Adapt

Marvel Comics has introduced a handful of Steve Rogers' children over the years, but I believe that these two characters make the best scenarios for Captain America's son in Avengers: Doomsday
James grew up to become the new Captain America, helping the children of other Marvel heroes avenge their fallen parents as they took on Ultron. He was mentored by Iron Man, which could be twisted into an unexpected connection to Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom if James is Steve and Peggy's son — not Black Widow's — and gets aged up in Avengers: Doomsday.
Steve Rogers And Peggy Carter Also Had A Child In Another Universe

If Marvel were to not change an established character's parentage to make the child Steve and Peggy's, then the only character in the comics who would fit that bill is someone who actually originated in another medium. Sharon Rogers was created for the video game Marvel Future Fight. She hails from a reality where Captain America never met his The First Avenger fate.
That means Steve was never frozen in ice, living his life by Peggy Carter's side, similar to what Chris Evans' Captain America decided to do when he went back in time in Avengers: Endgame. Sharon grew up to become the new Captain America after her parents retired. She would make for a fitting addition to Avengers: Doomsday, but I believe the baby in the teaser is James Rogers.
