Why There’s No New Tracker Tonight (April 6) & When Will Season 2, Episode 16 Release?

Comments off

Warning: SPOILERS for Tracker season 2, episode 15, "The Grey Goose."There won't be a new episode of Tracker on April 6, 2025, but there's thankfully only a short wait before some major storylines move forward. Quite a lot is going on in Tracker season 2 right now, even after the Gina Picket case was ultimately resolved. Justin Hartley's Colter's had reunions with Billie Matalon (Sofia Pernas) and his brother Russell (Jensen Ackles) this season, Bobby (Eric Graise) seems to have fallen off the grid, and someone high in the government may have their eyes on Colter for reasons yet unknown.

Naturally, these developments have led to frequent shifts in Tracker's cast of characters, and fans are growing ever curious to see how these storylines might ultimately conclude. With the Tracker season 2 finale date already announced as May 11, 2025, a lot of hanging story threads should be wrapped up relatively soon. That makes it all the more frustrating that eager viewers will have to wait a bit before the next major story beat. However, the lack of a new Tracker episode tonight is merely an expected side effect of network television in general.

The Network's Taking A Short Musical Break

With Tracker's Shaw family mystery still unresolved after all this time, almost any gap between episodes would be understandably infuriating. However, occasional breaks are part of the necessary lifeblood of network shows. These breaks give a series time to film and complete post-production in less of a rush

, ensuring more quality. They also work in the network's favor, allowing time for special events such as major sports championships and live award shows.

Those eager to see more of Colter, not to mention guest stars such as Jensen Ackles' Tracker character Russell Shaw, won't be deprived for very long. With March Madness ending, the award show season largely passed, and no immediately planned special events, network TV will be largely returning to normal scheduling within the week. There are also no immediate plans for CBS to overhaul its programming schedule, at least until the shows on its current slate have concluded their ongoing seasons.

When season 2, episode 15's final scene began with Sofia Pernas' Tracker character Billie Matalon opening the door to Colter in her bathrobe, it was somewhat predictable that her robe would find its way to the floor by the time the credits rolled. With an ending like that, it's extremely likely that Billie will make at least one more appearance before Tracker season 2 concludes. Additionally, Justin Hartley has teased Russell and Dory's (Melissa Roxburgh) return, meaning there could be more stories for them in the series' pipeline. Hopefully, they could herald some real answers to the mystery of their father's death.

The most recent episode also included dialogue between Colter and Randy (Chris Lee) regarding the current whereabouts of Eric Graise's Bobby Exley, and Randy promised he'd follow up soon. Given that Colter's recent brush with a government conspiracy seems to have put a target on his back, not to mention the previous reveal on Tracker that the feds know something about the fate of Colter's dad, there's a chance these storylines could all intertwine by the end. Whether they do or not, it should be a thrilling ride when the series starts working toward these conclusions in just a week's time.
